The History of Edessa Weyr
Only three Turns old at present, Edessa Weyr is still in the early stages of life, just crawling out of adolescence.
Edessa was created as a run-off site for the over-flowing Southern Weyr; a new location for adventurous young riders to make a homestead. The able and willing were sent in small groups to first survey the site, and eventually begin preparations. The natural inlets and rocky coves, jagged cliffs and rugged terrain lent itself perfectly to the formation of a new Weyr. The transition from uninhabited to populated was made smoothly, the evacuating riders careful not to upset natural balances.
Once settled in the beginnings of new lodgings, riders began to spot natural wildlife-- various dolphins, fowl, aquatic life and several brush dwellers; however, the discovery of firelizards came as a surprise. The existence of firelizards was hardly mystifying, but their colorations were certainly shocking. Eventually the firelizards' colorations were accepted, but the surprise was what the dragon clutch had in store! Reverah's Gold Yllisth laid a clutch of 20 eggs, and out of the 20, 11 matched the mutated firelizards. The word quickly spread, and Edessa has grown exponentially.
However, after the first Turn, tragedy struck the Weyr. Weyrwoman Reverah's Gold Yllsith rose just as she was scheduled to; unfortunately though, the Flight was during an unexpected visit by Northern riders. Unable to leave the Weyr quickly enough, High Reaches Goldrider Asintya's Hovoleth took to the air. Much to the horror of both Edessa and Northern riders the two Queen fought, and fought to the death. Hovoleth was slain in the air, betweening instantly. Despite the Northerners' outrage at losing a Queen, Yllsith was mortally wounded, leaving Reverah dragonless. Unwilling to cope with her loss, Reverah took her own life. Edessa Weyrleader In'daire of Bronze Masuth lead for half a Turn, appointing Qai'ras of Aether Voraizith in his stead. The title of Weyrwoman was passed on to Nellix of Circe Lilaeth and the burden of keeping a Weyr afloat fell on their young shoulders.
Despite setbacks, Edessa riders are ready to welcome the challenges their young and ambitious generation must face.

RECENT NEWS:
Southern Weyr kindly donated a clutch to their sister, Edessa, however the clutch cntained only seven eggs, none larger than a brown. To the Weyrwoman's outrage, the larger half of the clutch was sent North to the equally new Norland Weyr. Tension between the North and Edessa was thick to begin with, and now grows thicker still!
The clutch has Hatched and the Hatching Feast is underway, a perfect entry for any transfers or new Candidates! Circe Lilaeth, the Weyrqueen, is due to rise in early September! Will Aether Voraizith claim the queen for the first time, securing Qai'ras as 'Leader? Or will a new man claim the title?
Also, firelizard clutch to be found soon! Plenty of positions open and accepting all dragon colors except queens!
